Hunter Hammers Out Another Good Game

It just hasn’t been the same since the Angels were swept by Boston in the postseason. In all of the games after that series, the Angels are 6-1 against them, sweeping them once in Anaheim and now winning the first game of the three game series this week. Although they shake off the idea that these victories are statement wins, it looks like they may finally have figured out how to beat these guys.

Torii Hunter’s been on a roll since coming home from Arkansas and it was no different tonight. He knocked in three, going 2 for 4 and blasting his 16th homer over the Monster and out of the ballpark and onto the streets of Boston.

“He threw strikes, and we were able to capitalize,” Hunter said of Dice-K. “I was just trying to get that runner in [from third], and I was on the off-speed. In the past six games, he’s hit four homers, knocked in 10 RBIs and hit .280. He’s also tied for the team lead in RBIs with Guerrero and Kotchman with 54.

Speaking of Casey, he also got a homer tonight, his 12th of the season off of Matsuzaka.  That was his third of this roadtrip.

Despite the Angels starting pitching quality decrease lately, Weaver did get the win, going a little over five innings and giving up 3 earned runs. He allowed 6 hits and his ERA is now up to 4.11.

Tomorrow night, the Angels will face Buchholz who is currently 2-5 with a 5.81 ERA. He will square off against Angels pitcher John Lackey who is looking to make up for his past two subpar outtings.
