Mid-Offseason Update
Well, long time no see. It's not great that the first thing back is a negative. But as most Angel fans are very aware, the main focus of this offseason was to improve the offensive factor of their lineup. The player who could do that best was Tex. It seemed as though they had a good opportunity to sign him and therefore secure his name on the firstbase space. Reagins made it clear to us now, however, that Tex is most certainly not signing with the Angels and that instead, he is going to New York with a $180 million contract under his sliders. Whether it was ever his intention to come back to Anaheim is still unclear. He very well may have just been looking to drive up the price as high as possible first.
This leaves the Angels with bleak possibilities. They haven't produced an every day position player since Troy Glaus and now they're planning on "seeing what these kids [the rookies] can do"? How many times in ten years have we heard that It seems as though the Angels only had a plan A. Tex or nothing. Reagins also made it known that Manny would also not be coming to Anaheim this year.
What does that leave us with: the loyal fans who come to as many games as their incomes allow to see their baseball team lose in the first round of the playoffs? And now they decide to raise ticket prices? Well, sorry, but if the Angels aren't spending their money, neither am I. At least not until they decide to do something beneficial for the team's lineup. It looks like this year is going to be another let down.
